This weeks most played jam goes to Jervis Campbell. With a genre described as Soul/Gospel Indie with roots in southern rock, British rock, and R & B, it is truly no wonder his song “Glory” has been making quite a few rounds through my speakers.
Jervis Campbell’s has 1.2 million followers on Spotify and simple little tag line reading “just doin my best over here”. It’s hard not to like a guy with a bio like that.
According to his website jerviscampbell.com he is a Nashville-based music guy from North Carolina who’s songs are prayers that have helped him through his life and his hope is that they help others too. He has been making music in Nashville since 2018. As a self produced artist, he pushed himself to be as authentic as possible drawing from his own experiences and day-to-day life.
His song “Glory” is a testament to the strength and endurance of faith. It tells a story triumph over darkness; that love and hope always overcome. There’s a way to turn and seek a taste of grace at all times. It tells a scenario of life many, if not all, can relate to - “I’ve danced with the darkness, I've heard evil’s lies, felt the weight of my chains, comin’ down on my life”. That immediately followed by what all believers have come to know to be true - “I found the redemption in the sacrifice, I've been saved by the truth..the truth of Jesus Christ.” His wounds make us warriors, His word make us free, His strength in spirit brings victory. With the steady rock-like heartbeat thumping throughout the song it’s hard not to feel the words as you listen along and feel empowered.
